Couriers

Can I work as a sole trader?

Yes. Choose Sole Trader and give your 10-digit UTR, or Limited Company and give your company number.

Yes. Couriers on Adhoc are self-employed, and you can work either way. During sign-up, Adhoc asks How do you trade?

  • Sole Trader: you work for yourself and file a Self Assessment. Give your Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) from HMRC. It is 10 digits.
  • Limited Company: you trade through a company registered at Companies House. Give your company number. It is 8 characters, such as 12345678 or SC123456. We check it against Companies House.

Either way, you run your own business. You choose which rounds to apply for, you are responsible for your own tax and National Insurance, and you are free to work for anyone else too. Our terms explain more.
