Couriers

What do I need to sign up as a courier?

Proof of your right to work, your National Insurance number, your UTR or company number, your van, hire and reward insurance and photo ID.

Before you can apply for rounds, Adhoc checks who you are, how you trade and what you drive. Sign-up takes eight short steps. Have these ready:

  1. About you: your full name as it is written on your ID, your UK mobile number, and proof of your right to work in the UK, such as a share code letter, passport or biometric residence permit.
  2. National Insurance number: two letters, six digits, then a letter, such as QQ 12 34 56 C. It is encrypted and only a reviewer sees it.
  3. How you trade: sole trader or limited company. Read which to choose.
  4. Tax reference: your 10-digit Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) if you are a sole trader, or your 8-character company number if you trade through a limited company.
  5. Your van: its size and registration. Small carries 1 to 5 parcels, Medium 6 to 30 and Large 31 to 80. You can only take rounds your van is big enough for.
  6. Vehicle deposit: a one-off deposit of £1. Read about the deposit.
  7. Vehicle insurance: your certificate of motor insurance. It must cover hire and reward, and be in date.
  8. Photo ID: your driving licence or passport. Uploading it sends your application for review.

Uploading documents

A clear photo from your phone is fine. You can upload a PDF, JPEG, PNG, HEIC, HEIF or WEBP file of up to 10MB. Make sure every corner is in shot and nothing is hidden by glare.
